Cas9 is one of the key components of the CRISPR system. Under the guidance of gRNA, it can cleave double-stranded DNA at specific DNA sequences leading the DNA repair pathway initiation to efficiently excise, mutate, insert or replace genes. So far, S. pyogenes Cas9 (SpCas9) has been widely used in various cell types and species. The expression level of Cas9 in transfected cells can be strictly controlled by using a specific SpCas9 antibody.
